Car Parking at a London Airport Heathrow, Gatwick or Luton

If you are travelling out of a London airport, and you need airport parking at Heathrow, Gatwick or Luton for your car there, understand this: Heathrow and Gatwick are busy places. In fact, Heathrow and Gatwick are amongst the busiest airports in the world. British Airways goes on to note "Heathrow is the largest airport in the UK, and the second busiest international airport in the world. Around 100 airlines operate from Heathrow's four (soon to be five) terminals, serving around 250 destinations". The airport is actually owned by BAA. Gatwick has a North Terminal and a South Terminal.

Located a few miles from Central London, and within the M25, Heathrow Airport serves scheduled and charter flights to destinations all over the World.  Gatwick and Luton Airports are further from the centre of London and are outside the M25.

But back to cheap car parking at London Airports.

Parking at a London Airport is not a problem for both the traveller on holiday or the business person on the road.

There are four terminals at Heathrow so you need to know where you are going to park in the best place. There are four options to car parking at Heathrow Airport. There are two terminals at Gatwick.

The first is for those who are only parking for a short stay. It is a few meters from the terminals entrance and is recommended for stays up to five hours but you can park longer, but it is not a cheap option. If you are airport parking at Heathrow or Gatwick to see someone off or to meet arriving passengers, this is the place to put your car. All terminals have their own short stay car park with a walk way near the terminal entrance. Charges are based on the length of time you park here.

Another short stay service is called Fast Track. British Airways says it is ideal for the business traveller who wishes to get to the terminals quickly and still use the airport parking at Heathrow or Gatwick. Fast track is located within the short stay car parks offering quality parking and the fastest, most convenient link into the terminal building. All terminals have their own dedicated Fast Track car parks.

All Terminals have longer stay parking. There is a courtesy bus every ten minutes or so directly to the terminal. This is for longer airport parking Heathrow and Gatwick and of course, is cheaper than the close-in short stay lots. There is also the top star valet parking service for those you want the most service while parking at Heathrow  and Gatwick airports.

No matter what your needs, remember this; if you pre-book your parking you will eliminate some of the trouble and very often, reduce your cost. This is particularly true of you are going to stay for more than one day. There are several discounted rate packages for Heathrow and Gatwick airport parking. Also note that during peak holiday traffic, parking charges increase. Book your airport parking at Heathrow and Gatwick on-line to make it easier.

There are many other sites for car parking near Heathrow and Gatwick Airports, such as parking at local hotels when you make an over night stay. You will pay the normal charges for the hotel accommodation, but you normally pay the cheapest charges for 8 or 15 day, or long term stays for car parking near Heathrow or Gatwick Airport. There are usually frequently running low cost shuttle buses between the hotels and the airport. There is a variety of budget to luxury hotel accommodation available and your car will normally be parked in a secure compound.

And by the way, parking for motorcycles is available free of charge in the Short Term Car Park for airport parking at Heathrow or Gatwick.
